Aaron’s Race report (Westlakes Final round March)Mar 30, 2022
Coming off the back of the Melbourne Half Ironman a week prior I wanted to do the race purely to support local triathlon and of course, socialize with the triathlon community, I decided on the age group category as I wanted to keep my points high with many competitors ready to take the lead, but on this day not much competition being the last race at Westlake most have had enough by now, not me I want more even if my body doesn’t.
being the third wave e in the swim I wanted to get out front and hold a good pace as I knew the would-be chasers especially on the run, but catching the back of the last wave in the first 200m was fun picking my lines and getting around others always gives me more experience and sorts out those that are not confident in tight situations, coming out of the swim in good time it was now time to see if my legs would hold up on the bike, sure enough, I was able to hold really good power 300watts but started to get tires on the third getting passed by a fellow competitor and thinking I should have waited from the swim and sat behind him 10metres to save my energy for the run, but it was just a recovery race any how, coming off the bike with my perfect dismount and fast transition I was off on the run and man my legs were heavy but I proceeded to push my self and kept telling my legs to shut up, with no one around me I didn’t need to push too deep and sailed it home in 1:03:30sec
NOW MASSIVE RECOVERY TILL THE LAST AND FINAL RACE FOR THE SEASON BEFORE TRAVELING TO THAILAND.
MURRY MAN IN 2 WEEKS ACTUALLY LESS THAN THAT NOW.
